Custom design
As part of my end-to-end services, I offer consultations and custom designs.
Fees are $60/hour.
Consultations include
getting to know you and your event,
your style preferences,
your event theme, and
exploring how our services can bring your idea to life.
Custom design includes:
initial consult & hourly estimate of the final design,
digital mockup of the proposed design,
2 additional edits post-design meeting.* (More than two will incur additional hourly fees and may affect your print delivery.)
If you happen to be in the Portland Area, I welcome scheduled in-person meetings at my studio. Otherwise, we can collaborate remotely through email and virtual meetings. For both in-person and remote, I’ll send you digital files for review.
*Why do we limit edits? Sometimes it's hard to know when a design is complete and it's even more challenging when multiple people are involved. We strive for a collaborative partnership with you and ask that you research what you want before our meeting and think carefully additional changes you want in each design iteration. Changing a color is easy, but scrapping an entire design mid-process will affect your final costs and print delivery.

Have a design already?
If you’re handy with Illustrator or InDesign and already have a design, we can print it. Before sending the file, here are a few tips to make it letterpress-ready.
Ensure all images are vectorized and embedded.
Convert fonts to outlines.
Ensure images are made of lines and flat or solid fills. No pencil shading, texture fills, or fancy brush outlines.
Set the minimum line weight to .35pt or above
Scale the print size to 100% in inches.
Set all colors to 100% opacity.* If a color is set to 80% opacity, use the eyedropper tool to select it and refill the area.
Have 2-3 people proofread your text. Sometimes, we spell our own names wrong and miss it. But once you have approved the final design, you’re responsible for any errors.
Send files as .pdf, .ai, or .ind.
We can’t use raster images (usually designed in Photoshop) in our printing process. However, we can review a Photoshop design and advise you on how to convert it to a vector.
*Letterpress inks aren’t entirely opaque, especially on dark-colored paper, so foil stamping would be the ideal process for printing light colors on dark paper or if you’d like a metallic finish.
